Traveller's Tales Group captures new business

May 31 2007

FARLEYS Solicitors and Cowgill Holloway have teamed up to advise on a further acquisition for rapidly expanding video game publisher and developer, TT Games Group.

The legal and accountancy firms advised the TT Games Group on the formation of TT Centroid Limited, which was used to acquire the assets of Centroid Motion Capture Limited.

The motion capture agency films actors using infra-red cameras so that their movements can be translated into video games. Its 10 UK employees will continue to be employed by TT Centroid as well as 12 people at its Serbian subsidiary.

Jon Burton, Travellers Tales' managing director, said: "Acquiring Centroid Motion Capture allows us to add a further skill-set to the TT Games Group and strengthen our connections within the video games industry.

"We are also very excited by the lease we have secured for the new company at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, as this is where some of the biggest films in the country are produced and will increase our presence in the film making industry."

Debbie King, Farleys Solicitors' company law partner, advised Jon Burton and TT Centroid on the deal. She said: "Centroid Motion Capture has great potential and provides an excellent strategic fit within the TT Group, enabling it to strengthen its connections, win new contracts and build upon the skill-set of its employees."

Andy Ball, Cowgill Holloway tax partner, and Lisa Watson, tax consultant, provided accountancy advice to Jon Burton on the deal. Andy said: "Jon Burton has very ambitious plans for the ongoing expansion of the TT Games Group and this acquisition will allow the company to break into new markets."

The TT Games Group is based in Knutsford and was established in 1989 by Jon Burton. The Group employs 150 people at offices in the UK, Ireland and Serbia.
