TotalVideoGames - Games of 2011

UK site launches iPad mag.

Bristol, UK – 7 th February 2011: TotalVideoGames, one of the longest-running video game websites in the UK has announced the release of its first dedicated games magazine for the iPad. Days after its launch, Apple awarded ‘TotalVideoGames - Games of 2011’ with a top spot in the ‘New & Noteworthy’ Entertainment section on iTunes for iPad apps.

‘TotalVideoGames - Games of 2011’ takes a wide view of this year’s triple-A gaming crop, from Rockstar’s LA Noire to Nintendo’s next Zelda title. Utilising features made possible by the iPad such as social networking integration, embedded trailers and interactive pages, ‘TotalVideoGames - Games of 2011’ marks the strongest foray into the iPad market by a gaming magazine yet.

The app launches shortly after the News Corporation’s ‘The Daily’ and takes similar advantage of a gap in the iPad market for low-price consumer publications. With 15 million units of the device sold to-date, Apple’s iPad represents one of the fastest growing media markets for independent companies, making it a perfect fit for TVG Media’s portfolio of video game coverage.

TVG’s first mobile application has been created entirely in-house and can be used both on- and offline, on the train, or in the toilet... as TVG Editor, Chris Leyton explains:

“We see our new iPad application as the perfect antidote to disposable online content; this is an app you can sit down and enjoy, much like an annual for the more discerning gamer, but with all the benefits that online brings such as direct links to the gaming communities.”

This type of interactivity allows users to instantly access extended information about the games they're viewing directly from the app itself, with links to TVG's RSS feeds, Twitter debates and additional YouTube videos."

Following the initial success of their first mobile application, TVG has already announced further plans for a follow-up later in the year.

‘TotalVideoGames - Games of 2011’ is available now on the App Store for 59p ($0.99).
