Torque Game Engine Advanced

Version 1.8 now available, complete with Mac OS X support.

For Immediate Release

Eugene, OR, December 16, 2008 -- GarageGames, the leading technology provider for independent game developers, has released a major update to their Torque Game Engine Advanced (TGEA), free to current licensees. This update adds an OpenGL implementation to the graphics API and platform support for Mac OS X.

"Being in a position to offer our top-quality Torque Game Engine Advanced to Mac developers is our proudest achievement with Torque this year," said Matt Fairfax, Senior Engine Developer at GarageGames and lead developer on TGEA. "TGEA lets these developers harness the latest in 3D game creation technology, and we're expecting a lot from games on the Mac in 2009."

Developers using TGEA 1.8 will be working with the same technology that GarageGames uses to provide Mac-compatible versions of popular games on InstantAction such as Fallen Empire: Legions, Rokkitball, and Marble Blast Online. TGEA 1.8 features include Torque's top-tier networking, advanced material systems, procedurally generated shaders, integrated real-time editors, developer code resources and thorough documentation.

"GarageGames has stamped out a long tradition with Torque of providing full source code access to a great technology with an affordable license," said Brett Seyler, GarageGames' VP of Business Development. "We're thrilled that developers continue to reward us for this, letting us reinvest in Torque. The license and accessible tools keep Torque at the technology forefront and keep the GG developer community growing and strong."

The 1.8 release is available now on GarageGames website. For more information, check out Torque Game Engine Advanced on GarageGames.com.
