THQ Wireless is launching in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, with a massive roster of 18 titles due for November.

The push is a joint collaboration with SPL Content, THQ's partner in Europe responsible for launching the brands, promotional activities, taking on localisation duties and offering customer support.

"There are more than 130 million mobile phone subscribers in Russia and the Ukraine alone, and subscriber numbers continue to grow at a rapid rate," commented Adam Comiskey, THQ Wireless' vice president.

"Offering full service to this region is a strategic imperative for THQ Wireless as we seek to deliver our content to all relevant markets worldwide."

The initial software line-up includes such brands as Worms, MotoGP, Star Wars, Saints Row, Destroy All Humans! and Company of Heroes, which will all be localised into Russian before the end of the year.

"The local market is poised for explosive growth and its current need for globally recognised high-quality mobile content is perfectly matched with the fantastic portfolio of game titles and world-famous brands brought by THQ Wireless," added Olga Belaya, head of SPL Content.
