THQ appoints former EB CEO to board of directors

THQ has confirmed the appointment of former Electronics Boutique CEO Jeffrey Griffiths to its board of directors, expanding the board to six.

CEO Brian Farrell called Griffiths "a pioneer in the videogame retail business" in announcing the appointment.

The publisher confirmed the EB executive's move in light of his former company's merger with Gamestop earlier this year, clearing up the issue of whether he'd join the new merged retailer or find himself a new position.

"Under his leadership EB led the industry in online distribution, international expansion and innovative marketing and merchandizing strategies," said Farrell.

"As a member of the THQ board, I'm confident Jeff's deep understanding of the market and his innovative approach to retailing will be very valuable in helping THQ achieve our strategic objectives."
