The Grass is Green on Both Sides of the Fence

UK software developers Oak Systems Leisure Software, the development team behind successful titles such as Sudoku Works and Brain Workout have jumped over the fence for their latest project AvaDownload.

www.avadownload.com is a download site with a difference, it is a software site for developers by developers. Submitting software is hassle free with the PAD file system. There is also a developer blog which aims to provide helpful marketing tips for developers gleaned from Oak's own experience and observations from both sides of the fence.

"We have been extremely lucky over the past year or so and have managed to turn a part time hobby of developing shareware into a profitable full time business," says MD Dave Walker. "To anyone new to the shareware game it is overwhelming at first, because you not only have to make the software, you have to market it, haggle deals, process payments, and that is a whole new ball game. We hope to pay it forward and share with newcomers our own tips for getting products out there, not only to the numerous sites, but also to retail publishers".

Don't worry though, the partnership based in Portsmouth, UK, haven't turned their back on making puzzle games, and have a new title due for release in the new year.
