Okay, so perhaps Weird Al doesn't have anything to fear when it comes to parody lyrics, but the message is loud and clear. Folks, we are on a countdown to destiny! In a little less than three weeks the Shady O' Grady's Rising Star contest will end. Have you submitted your song yet?

From now until August 25th Shrapnel Games is looking for the best, the greatest, the most super-awesome unsigned musical groups in the country--- nay, the world--- nay, the wholefreaking universe! If you're a blues, country, folk, jazz, pop, punk, rap, and/or ska artist we want to hear your songs! Submit as many as you want! If you've been sitting on asix-hour folk/rap/blues opera about the day the commune's John Deere tractor got shot up in a drive-by shooting, well, dust it off and let us hear it!

After the initial submission period our pool of highly qualified judges will eliminate any obvious songs that just don't fit (hmm, okay, so maybe that six hour folk/rap/blues opera should stay dusty). After that, songs will be posted online for the public to vote upon, with the top choices becoming part of the legend that is Shady O' Grady's Rising Star!

And what, pray tell, is that legend? Shady O' Grady's Rising Star is an upcoming computer game for the Windows operating system published by Shrapnel Games and designed by Gilligames. A single-player role-playing game with unlimited replayability, gamers will create their ultimate band and see how far they can make it in the musical world. From writing songs to playing gigs to the joys of diplomatic relationships between bandmates while on the road, it's all here. Experience the rock-and-roll lifestyle without fear of arrests, STDs, or rehab clinics, all from the comfort of your desktop. Extensive customization features also means gamers will be able to shape the Shady O' Grady Rising Star experience to their particular vision.

More information on Shady O' Grady's Rising Star can be found at www.shrapnelgames.com/gilligames/SOGRS/1.htm, and a detailed preview of the game, courtesy of Hexus Gaming, can be read at http://gaming.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=6336.

The contest may be entered at www.shrapnelcommunity.com/band/form.htm, from now until August 25th. Submit as many songs as you wish. The entries have been superb so far, and we're looking to hear more talented, undiscovered musicians out there!

From now until August 15th Shady O' Grady's Rising Star may be pre-ordered for $34.95 through the Shrapnel Games online store by visiting www.gamersfront.com/xcard/home.php. After August 15th it will be on sale for $39.95, so hurry and act now!
