The Binding of Isaac card game raises $1 million in a week on Kickstarter

Total stands above $1.1 million with 16 days left to run

A card game based on the indie hit The Binding of Isaac has raised $1 million through Kickstarter in the space of a week.

At the time of writing, The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls had received pledges amounting to more than $1.1 million, with 16 days still to run before the campaign ends.

Edmund McMillen, the designer of the original video game, had set a $50,000 target, but the campaign blew past it in 75 minutes. It reached $1 million after one week.

The Binding of Isaac launched in 2011, and it had sold five million units by July 2015. Combined with the popularity of Ed McMillen's Super Meat Boy, the Binding of Isaac card game had a huge community to draw from.

Four Souls also arrives in the midst of a boom in tabletop games on Kickstarter, while money raised for video games appear to have stagnated.
