Tetris creator backs GameCity '07

Alexey Pajitnov joins growing games festival

Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov is to speak at next month's GameCity festival.

As well as insight from the developer, GameCity will also screen the documentary Tetris: From Russian with Love and host an attempt by the UK's best Tetris player to break the current world record.

"I'm very enthusiastic about being able to come and support an event which is designed to celebrate the culture and potential of games," commented Pajitnov.

"It's great to have the chance to meet with world-class developers, and to talk with gamers, students and newcomers about what excites them about gaming."

GameCity takes place all over Nottingham City, October 24 — 28.

Highlights of the event so far confirmed include Elite designer David Braben's first public showing of The Outsider, Keita Takahashi's world exclusive preview of new game Noby Noby Boy and a talk from Lego Star Wars' Jonathan Smith.

As well as developer master-classes, concerts, live radio shows and debates panelled by The New Statesman, more information can be found at GameCity.org.
