TeliaSonera provides Internet connection at the Gathering event

April 3, 2007

TeliaSonera International Carrier provides the second largest computer party in the world, the Gathering event, with Internet access via a one gigabit network connection.

The Gathering event takes place April 4-8, 2007, in Hamar in Norway and TeliaSonera International Carrier is the preferred provider and the only Internet source at the event, being the leading IP carrier in Europe. The Gathering event has always been a hub for young creative people to battle it out in many types of competitions; demo-coding, music, graphics, animation, game and hardware-modification, to name a few.

"This is one of the steps we are taking towards achieving our ambition to become the global IP carrier of choice for the online gaming industry," says Anna Mossberg, Vice President Product Management and Marketing, TeliaSonera International Carrier.

"TeliaSonera International Carrier meets the extremely strict quality demands of the online community and reaches more online gamers in Europe than any other carrier.

We expect to increase our business within the gaming area in the next coming year," adds Anna Mossberg.

Leveraging experience and expertise in operating a global fibre-based network, TeliaSonera International Carrier has a superb platform in place on which to build its new high capacity and highly resilient network aimed at serving the needs of the professional online gaming industry. The gaming network is fully owned and operated by TeliaSonera International Carrier which means that every link and network element is monitored and managed from a central point. Each fibre connection is fully redundant and individual streams are monitored and managed continuously. In the unlikely event of significant signal degradation or failure the network will instantaneously switch to an alternative path, without impacting quality of service to the end consumer.

"Customers are in pursuit of the best online gaming experience, and we are aware of the diverse nature of their needs and priorities," says Anna Mossberg, "We are striving to provide complete solutions for our customers, enabling the best gaming experience possible, as we look to become the provider of choice to the online gaming industry."
