Telcogames launches QWAK on Symbian phones

Classic platform title gets new life on mobile phones

Developer Magic Productions and publisher Telcogames has revitalised classic platform game QWAK, with a new Symbian version available from today.

Originally published on the Amiga by Team 17 in 1993, the game features an acrobatic duck, challenging players to collect fruit, gems, and keys in a series of increasingly difficult levels, whilst avoiding a range of enemies. Team 17 is responsible for a number of classic Amiga games which have enjoyed enormous success. Several more of the company's classic games will be developed for Symbian phones by Telcogames in the near future.

According to Telcogames, creating for Symbian devices allows developers and publishers to create large, detailed and complex games which are closer in quality to the type of games found on traditional handheld devices such as Nintendo's GameBoy Advance.

CEO of Telcogames, Jamie Conyngham stated: "The response we have had so far to the games we're publishing for Symbian has been extraordinary. The titles have found an audience which is delighted to have games that really use the power of their handsets and give them a richer and more exciting gaming experience. We're planning to carry on our support for Symbian games in the future and really take mobile gaming in an exciting new direction."

The company previously published Another World in Symbian form, and QWAK is the latest release in a growing catalogue of classic videogame titles which Telcogames have reinvented for the Smartphone user. Future releases include Sensible Soccer, Cannon Fodder, Psycho Pinball and Mega-Lo-Mania. The titles are available to download and can also be found on Multimedia Memory Cards in retail stores.
