Tales of Pirates II

It all started with some balloons. Every now and then, even fearsome pirates enjoy a bit of childish fun, and the game’s GM is no exception. Having chanced upon a huge bunch of balloons during a recent treasure hunt, he was elated, but these weren’t ordinary balloons. Found only in Tales of Pirates II, they were in fact mischievous balloon monsters. When they escaped the GM’s clutches, he offered some cool rewards to those pirates who could bring back the most balloons. The balloons became docile once they were attacked, so players could easily lead them back to their rightful owner.

For the event, participating pirates were divided into 2 teams. The team that retrieved the most balloons in their area would win a round, and there were 3 rounds lasting 3 minutes each. This was no childish romp, though, as the teams had little time to gather as many balloons as possible. The buccaneers had to think and act quickly as they found ways to work their class skills to the team’s advantage. Players with strong area of effect (AOE) skills, such as Seal Masters, were pros at capturing huge bunches of balloons with the impressive Rebirth Skill known as the Devil’s Curse. Crusaders, who often have a strong edge in PvP, were humbled by the Seal Masters’ with their own limited AOE skills. Still, their abilities came in very handy as they attacked the other team’s balloons with much vengeance, helping to reduce their opponents’ points. Defense was also key, as Voyagers used their powerfully disruptive Tornado to send opponents up into the air for extended periods, literally blowing away any sneaky attackers who might try to burst their team’s balloons.

Just like bursting balloons, the event was short-lived, but a great deal of fun while it lasted. For 20 minutes, the pirates had a blast as they tried to herd the naughty balloons back to their team’s area while fending off nasty sneak attacks from the opposing team. When it was over, the grateful GM awarded the victorious team the precious Dragon Treasure Chest for their efforts.
