TAG Games - Come Dine with Me

Telly show spin-off marking the launch of Tag Games' new Tag Apps division.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DUNDEE, UK – 9th November 2010

Successful mobile game developer and publisher Tag Games has today announced the launch of Tag Apps ( www.tag-apps.com) a new business unit specifically tasked with realising the potential of non-games mobile apps. Having already completed a variety of non-games content for clients including Virgin Atlantic and Breakthru Films the studio recently announced a slate of games and app projects for UK based television broadcaster Channel 4.

The first release in the Channel 4 slate is an app based on hit reality TV dinner party show Come Dine with Me. Immediately rising to the top of the lifestyle apps chart in the UK app store, Come Dine with Me offers users the chance to plan and share dinner parties on their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. It includes 100 recipes and an extensive wine list along with social integration, and sound bites from host Dave Lamb.

The new business unit will be headed up by recent recruit Marc Williamson, ex-managing director of Middlesbrough based development studio Halch. Marc has been ramping up the Tag Apps portfolio via relations with both established digital agencies and directly with brand and property owners themselves.

Tag view the move into app development as a natural response to market demand. Paul Farley, Managing Director explains: “ We are using our skills in 3D environments, connected experiences, user retention and complex game mechanics to bring a game developer’s playful approach to non-gaming content.

We are finding that many digital agencies have in-house or long standing external development suppliers which are usually excellent in flash and simple app development; however they aren’t as well placed to deal with 3D content and more complex application development. That’s where we believe Tag can make a huge impact, bringing our experience and skill base in games to bear in this exciting new field.”

We are hoping that Tag Apps will become a significant player in app development over the next 12 months. In addition to the Channel 4 deal we will be announcing a number of significant development and licensing deals in the coming months.”
