Starbreeze porting its engine to PS3, Xbox 2

Swedish developer Starbreeze is planning to port its engine technology - called the Starbreeze Engine - to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 2 platforms, according to a job posting which appeared on the developer's site this week.

The firm had previously announced that it was working on a next-generation action title for a US publisher, but this is the first mention we've heard of them leveraging their (hugely impressive) existing engine on forthcoming platforms.

Starbreeze is best known for its critically acclaimed Xbox FPS title Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, which is to be released on the PC this week, and is widely tipped to receive a sequel thanks to the commercial success of the game - despite the fact that the film it was based on flopped at the box office.
