Square Enix reshuffles top North American positions

Square Enix has announced the appointment of a new president and chief operating officer for its North American division.

Ichiro Otobe will take over the role from the departing Jun Iwasaki - the two having previously shared the role of COO - and will oversee all of the company's North American operations.

Square Enix's overall president Yoichi Wada will continue to take an active role in the firm's North American business, holding the position of chief executive officer in the US division.

Square Enix recently expanded its European division, renamed Square Enix Ltd., and plans to start publishing games for itself later this year, according to president and CEO John Yamamoto, [speaking to gi.biz in mid-July].
