Square Enix plans European invasion

Interview: The new president and CEO of Square Enix Ltd., John Yamamoto, speaks exclusively about the company's new focus on the European market, the possibility of local development and the concept of "polymorphic content".

Following the recent reshuffle of giant Japanese publisher Square Enix' global operations, former Atlus USA boss John Yamamoto has been installed as head of the company's European division - and tasked with overseeing its development from a product licensing office into a fully fledged publishing business.

GamesIndustry.biz caught up with Yamamoto this week in London for an exclusive discussion about the company's plans in the PAL territories - and covered topics ranging from the firm's self-publishing ambitions and its intent to publish a more extensive range in the region, through to its new global strategy of producing "polymorphic" content.

You can read the interview - the first which Yamamoto has given to a games publication since his appointment - in its entirety [on the site today].
