Snow proves good news for online gaming operator with UK traffic up 15%.

HILVERSUM, THE NETHERLANDS, 1st December 2010 — SPIL GAMES, the worldwide leader in online gaming websites, announces a 15% increase in its UK sites’ traffic, as the earliest widespread snowfall since 1993 prevents many people from leaving their homes.

The growth comes as reports indicate more than 800 schools have closed and travel continues to be disrupted with flight cancellations, train delays and road closures.

Game genres that showed the greatest increase would suggest more women played games in the period monitored, with children’s games also seeing a significant boost.

Unique visitors to SPIL Games sites that include www.games.co.uk, www.agame.com and www.girlsgogames.co.uk, rose by 15% Puzzle, Mahjong, Board & Card and Quizzes & Action games showed the greatest increase Make Up, Dress Up (boosted by Rhianna Dress Up) and Time Management titles also popular “With the Met Office UK issuing severe weather warnings for much of England, we’re expecting the trend to continue while this cold snap lasts,” said James Males, UK Managing Director SPIL GAMES. “While this disruption is an obvious inconvenience, the variety of free to play games on our sites offers something for people of all ages to while away the hours when stuck indoors.”
