Specs revealed for newly released $5 Raspberry Pi Zero

Micro-computer drops in size and price

A new Raspberry Pi model, the Zero, has gone on sale today, with the lowest price and smallest form factor of any of the range of micro-computers yet. In fact, the Zero is so small and affordable that it's being given away for free on the cover of a dedicated Pi magazine published by the team behind the hardware.

Costing just $5 and measuring 65mm x 30mm x 5mm, the Zero actually improves on the base specifications of the original model, released in 2012, with a 1Ghz ARM11 co faster than the first model. A complete spec list is available here.

Already the biggest selling British computer of all time, Pi's manufacturers expect demand to outstrip supply for the new model for the foreseeable future.
