Sony predicts $100 million PSP success down-under

With a September 1st launch for Australia looming for Sony's PlayStation Portable, the company has predicted to sell between 200,000 and 250,000 units by Christmas in the territory, according to news site, The Australian.

Sony intends to retail its machine for AUD $399.95, which would roughly equate to $100 million Australian dollars should it sell its target of 250,000 PSPs. This is excluding the money gained from accessories for the machine, including memory sticks and games, the latter of which will retail for AUD $79.95 each. Universal Media Disks will weigh in at AUD $34.95 each.

PSP will also launch in Europe on September 1st, with a price of UKP 179.
