Sony pins down SingStar PS3 release date

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has finally pinned down a release date for the PS3 debut of the best-selling SingStar franchise.

The title will be released on December 7 in the UK and December 12 in the rest of Europe, with Sony promoting the title via SingStar Studios — dedicated pods at the O2 Arena in London — where users and their friends can sample the game, dress up and record their performances.

The new SingStar - originally envisaged as a launch title for PS3 - also introduces SingStore, where users can download new tracks to increase their musical playlists.

Last month Sony admitted it needed extra time to implement downloadable and community features within the game, which raised questions over a definite release date.
