Sony expected to slash $100 off PS3 price

Sony Computer Entertainment America is expected to slash the price of it's luxury PS3 console by USD 100

Sony Computer Entertainment America is expected to cut the price of PlayStation 3 by USD 100 later this month.

The news comes following a recent advertisement from US retailer Circuit City which pointed to a price drop for the next-generation console, as reported by GameDaily.

It's believed this is a Sony initiative - and not just a promotional offer from the retailer. The price cut is expected to come into effect next week, following an announcement at the E3 Media & Business Summit.

The PlayStation 3 currently retails in North America for USD 599.

When contacted by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe declined to comment on the matter.
