Sony Computer Entertainment Japan To Release Slim-Line PlayStation(R)2 In Satin Silver For The Holiday Season

PlayStation®2 Satin Silver to Become Available as a Limited Time Offer

Tokyo, October 20, 2005 - Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) responsible for business operations in Japan, announced today that it would introduce a new Satin Silver color to the slim-line PlayStation®2 in Japan, on Wednesday, November 23rd 2005, at an open price.

Slim-line PlayStation 2 has been highly successful in the market since its launch in 2004, boosting demand from first-time buyers and existing PlayStation 2 owners renewing to the new model, and particularly with the introduction of a new standard Ceramic White color this spring, it has continued to gain stronger support from a wide range of users.

Satin Silver, a stylish color that excellently coordinates with other consumer electronics and audio-visual products, will be launched as the third color for the slim-line PlayStation 2 for a limited time. Analog Controller DUALSHOCK®2 and Vertical Stand will come in the same color and will be sold together in one package. Users now have a choice from a lineup of three fashionable hardware colors.

Accompanying the PlayStation 2 hardware, a lineup of exciting new software titles, as well as PlayStation 2 the Best series, will be released towards the year-end/New Years peak selling season. More than 250 titles are planned to be launched this holiday season, including highly expected titles such as NARUTO:Narutimate.Hero 3 by BANDAI CO.,LTD., ONIMUSHA: DAWN OF DREAMS by Capcom Co., Ltd., TALES OF THE ABYSS by NAMCO LIMITED, Ratchet&Clank 4th and Rouge Galaxy by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., and DIRGE of CERBERUS -FINAL FANTASY VII- and KINGDOM HEARTS II by SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD.

As a separately sold accessory, Analog Controller DUALSHOCK 2 and Memory Card (8MB)(for PlayStation 2) will also become available in Satin Silver (as a standard accessory color).

SCEJ will continue to expand PlayStation®, PlayStation 2 and PSP platforms and will create and develop a new world of computer entertainment for the broadband era through the fusion of game, music, movies, and broadcasting.
