Something old, something new: Konami Arcade Classics

Konami travels down memory lane as 15 classic titles from yesteryear are collected and remixed for Nintendo DS

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has turned to its enviable back catalogue to create Konami Arcade Classics - a stunning collection of fifteen of the publisher's most famous arcade games for Nintendo DS.

Due for release in autumn, Konami Arcade Classics showcases some of Konami's most loved and influential titles, with pixel-perfect copies of the arcade originals and remixed versions designed to make the most of the handheld's dual-screen capabilities. The updated versions of the games also make use of the wireless function of the DS, with users competing against each other or sharing replay and high score data with ease.

Amongst the games on show are Yie-Ar Kung Fu, a fast-paced fighting game starring a host of innovative characters and fighting styles; the horizontally-scrolling shoot 'em up epic, Gradius; and Time Pilot - a single-screen shooter set through the ages. The full roster of titles will be revealed shortly.

Designed as a celebration of some of the most ground-breaking games of yesteryear, Konami Arcade Classics allows players to choose from a number of screen configurations, including horizontal and vertical combinations that maintain the screen ratio of the original arcade cabinets. Similarly, the cartridge also features special modes showcasing over 100 classic music tracks and sound effects spanning the fifteen games, while a biography of each title is provided and illustrated with rare artwork and trivia.

Konami Arcade Classics will be released for Nintendo DS in autumn. For more information, please contact Steve Merrett at Voltage PR on 020 7903 5122 or email steve@voltagepr.com.
