SOE raises $20,000 for Child's Play

Hospitalised children's charity to receive benefits from month long EverQuest fundraiser

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that its Winter Charity Drive has raised more than USD 20,000 in donations for the Child's Play charity.

The company donated USD 10 to the charity, which aims to improve the lives of hospitalised children, each time an EverQuest or EverQuest II player bought a Child's Play virtual item in the titles' online marketplace.

"The ability of our players to make a donation of this magnitude in these tough economic times is beyond anything we could have hoped for," said John Smedley, president of SOE.

"As we continue to diversify with programs like station cash we will be able to offer unique items that benefit not only our players, but other partnerships and organisations such as Child's Play in this case."
