Shoot Many Robots

Competition to design an robot to shoot in upcoming DLC.

Cambridge, MA – March 3rd, 2011 - Demiurge Studios, one of the largest and longest-running independent development studios in the Boston area, has launched an all-new contest for aspiring game designers and fans of the upcoming downloadable title, Shoot Many Robots .  The online contest, dubbed ‘Design Many Robots,’ asks creators to design their own vision of mechanical terror to be shot full of lead in the upcoming project, vying for a chance to have their robot appear in the first expansion pack for Shoot Many Robots when it launches in 2011. Winners of the contest will also be given the chance to be flown to the Boston area to visit Demiurge Studios in person and watch their own robot creation come to life within the game.

“In the spirit of the Game Developer’s Conference this week, we wanted to kick-off this contest to give the next generation of designers a chance to appear in our first independently developed title,” said Albert Reed, co-founder and studio director at Demiurge Studios.  “We hope to see it all.  We’ve created a world chock full of chainsaw-wielding arachnid-bots, diesel-mechanical gorillas, and fire-breathing bull-dozers that exist in an industrial land full of oil, rust and spare parts. The door is open to add even more members to this motley crew, and we want to grow the robot army by letting our fans design and vote on who we should be blowing up next.”

The team also revealed an all-new trailer for ‘Design Many Robots’ which gives players a small glimpse into the robot design process. Also revealed today were a group of concept images that Demiurge hopes will give aspiring designers a taste of the mechanical flavor of the game’s enemy horde.

Each and every robot, large and small, bares its own offensive and defensive characteristics that will be challenging up to four players at once on screen.  The Demiurge team has also given a breakdown of existing robots on their website, and asks that players carefully consider building enemies that will be just as challenging as they are fresh and creative.

Launching this year, Shoot Many Robots will deliver an onslaught of innovative ‘run and gun meets action-RPG’ game play that will have up to four players working together online to fight through an intense and chaotic robot uprising.

Demiurge Studios stands as one of the largest independent game developers in the Boston area, diligently continuing to work with several top-tier partners on multiple unannounced titles, as well as on their own franchises. The studio’s credits include some of the most well-known titles within the industry, working with such stalwarts as Bioware, Epic Games, Gearbox Software and Harmonix by lending their expertise in AAA franchises like Borderlands, Brothers in Arms, Mass Effect and Rock Band.
