Sega reveals new Sonic title for mobiles

Platform specific one-thumb game showcased at E3

While Sega's legendary mascot is still spinning his way to the top of the mobile games download chart, the publisher has revealed a new game in development that's been designed from scratch for the mobile platform.

Showcased at the E3 expo in Los Angeles last week, Sonic Jump is a 2D casual game that's pitched perfectly for the current trend of one-thumb gaming, challenging players to navigate a vertically scrolling series of platforms, using trampolines to bounce higher and higher before a final face off with the evil Dr. Eggman.

En-route, players will need to avoid a host of familiar enemies, utilising the spin attack at the peak of each jump to destroy any evil creatures in the way and carefully timing their bounces to escape a nasty collision and ensure that the iconic gold rings can all be safely collected in the quickest possible time.

Following on from the success of Sonic The Hedgehog Part 1, Sega has adapted the gameplay mechanic for its famous blue mascot to offer mobile gamers an exclusive title based purely and simply on quick-fire, easy to master wireless fun.

The game is due for release later in the year, although no specific release date has been disclosed by the publisher to date.
