Code Monkeys to develop The Golden Compass

Leeds-based game development studio The Code Monkeys has been signed up by SEGA to produce a new mobile phone title based on forthcoming film The Golden Compass.

Known as Northern Lights in the UK, The Golden Compass is the first book in Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. A film based on the novel is due out in December, with the mobile game set to launch simultaneously. Console and handheld titles are also in development at A2M and Shiny.

The Code Monkeys has previously specialised in console games, releasing titles such as Goofy's Fun House and Shrek Treasure Hunt. The studio also produced mobile game Charlotte's Web for SEGA US.
