Publisher Sega has announced that it is working on the first massively multiplayer title for Nokia's N-Gage mobile gaming platform, a large scale RPG called Pocket Kingdom: Own The World which will be played over N-Gage Arena.

Set in the fantasy world of Ulgress, the game will allow players to choose between over 400 castle configurations, over 100 units and over 50,000 equipment items, sending out armies to explore the map, hunt for treasure and new recruits, and compete against other players.

The game will run on the N-Gage Arena system, which is based on Sega's SNAP network technology, and will include features such as chat, instant messaging, global rankings and game-specific news services.

"As the first worldwide massively multiplayer online mobile game, Pocket Kingdom: Own The World showcases the power of both the N-Gage platform and the N-Gage Arena," enthused Nokia's network game solutions director, Gerard Wiener. "The N-Gage Arena allows thousands of gamers around the world to connect for global mobile online battles, creating dynamic and unscripted gaming experiences."

The game is due to launch in the third quarter of this year, and it's not yet been announced whether it'll be subject to monthly subscriptions, as most MMORPG titles on other platforms are.
