Seedy dance routine lands Microsoft in hot water

Norwegian development conference marred by "inappropriate" cabaret show

An on-stage dance routine at a Norwegian Microsoft development conference has forced the company to issue an apology after several complaints were received over the show's raunchy and inappropriate nature, particularly due to the lyrics accompanying the show which were flashed up on a board in front of the stage.

The event, covered by Geekwire, was to promote advances in Microsoft's Azure cloud platform, but the pre-conference show veered significantly off message in its timbre.

Included in the lyrics to the performance, a video of which can be found on YouTube, was the phrase "The words MICRO and SOFT don't apply to my penis."

Frank Shaw, head of Microsoft corporate comms apologised for the show via Twitter, saying "this routine had vulgar language, was inappropriate and was just not ok. We apologize to our customers and partners."
