SCEE Unveils Four Titles on PLAYSTATION 3

European Developers Lead the Way on Next Generation PlayStation

E3, LOS ANGELES, 17 May 2005 - Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today unveiled four key software titles that are being developed exclusively for PLAYSTATION®3. Demonstrating the versatility and power of the new platform, the games - all created by European development teams - provide a sneak peak at the future of entertainment.

FORMULA ONETM SCEE Studio Liverpool takes the official game of the FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPTM to the next generation. The unprecedented processing power of PLAYSTATION 3 opens up a new world of possibilities for Formula OneTM gaming. Groundbreaking advances in AI and physics calculation will result in the richest and deepest racing experience yet, while the level of detail and the visual quality far exceeds anything seen to date.

Heavenly SwordTM Developed by Ninja Theory, Heavenly Sword is a stunningly beautiful martial arts drama set in a mythical time and place in the Far East. The game combines the intense action and visuals of the best martial arts action movies with a ground-breaking, free-style combat system allowing players to freely switch between multiple sword types and a wide range of weapons on-the-fly. With state-of-the-art technology and gameplay, Heavenly Sword takes players on a roller coaster of emotion and action that truly exploits the potential of gaming as the new artistic entertainment medium.

KillzoneTM PLAYSTATION 3 (Working Title) Developed by Amsterdam-based Guerrilla, Killzone PLAYSTATION 3 is a military first person shooter that builds upon the graphical and gaming excellence seen on PlayStation 2. A non-linear, intense cinematic gameplay experience that combines elements from multiple gaming genres, Killzone PLAYSTATION 3 thrusts players deeper into the conflict between the ISA and Helghast. Set in a rich and highly interactive gameworld, Killzone PLAYSTATION 3 utilises benchmark facial and character animation, advanced physics, destructible environments, amazing sound and special FX, immersing players in the most intense and warlike gameplay experience to date. Combining on-foot and vehicle combat across air, land and sea, with both off-line play and a customisable on-line portion, Killzone PLAYSTATION 3 revolutionises the first-person shooter for the next generation.

MotorStormTM Developed by Evolution Studios, MotorStorm delivers visceral off-road racing, plunging players into a frenzied environment awash with grit, mud and petrol, in a game that leaves the standard rules of racing in the dust. Gone are the limits of power restrictions, limited classes and qualifying rounds. Players simply choose their vehicle from a massive range - including dirt bikes, ATVs, sand rails, rally cars, monster trucks and everything in between - then hit the track in a no-holds-barred sprint to the finish line. Carving a swathe of destruction through the ever-changing wilderness, players must compete in a gasoline-fuelled, horsepower spectacle where the only rule is to try and stay alive.
