Sarbakan Teams Up With Breakthrough New Media to Bring Online WWII Multiplayer Game
Sarbakan, a Canadian one-stop multiplatform game development service provider, has signed an agreement with Breakthrough New Media to develop a downloadable multiplayer game inspired by Breakthrough Films & Television's six-part documentary series on the Second World War entitled For King & Country.
Recently aired on History Television, For King & Country received rave reviews and high ratings.
Scheduled to go gold next spring, For King & Country: Operation Victory is a six part episodic downloadable online game dedicated to Canada's military experience during the Second World War. Every episode focuses on a particular battle or a given aspect of the Canadian's involvement in WWII. The turn-based gameplay will put emphasis on strategy and stealth/action objectives.
"We are thrilled to be working with Breakthrough New Media on this project", says Guy Boucher, Sarbakan's president and executive producer. "We are convinced that players all over the world will greatly enjoy For King and Country - Operation Victory. This multiplayer multi-episode downloadable game accurately captures the intensity and emotion of Canada's operations in Western Europe in much the same spirit as Breakthrough Films & Television's renowned documentary series".
"Working with Sarbakan on For King & Country: Operation Victory is an exciting opportunity for us", says Dorothy Vreeker, producer for Breakthrough New Media. "We are both committed to producing an original, exciting game that focuses on real Canadian stories and events".
For King & Country: Operation Victory has been made possible through the generous support of the Telefilm New Media Fund, the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund and History Television.
