Running With Scissors' Denies Any Association with "Running with Scissors"

SourceTM Film Ironically Shares Name with POSTAL Videogame Creators, But That's All!

TUCSON, AZ A bizarre coincidence has struck the world of popular culture, crossing wires in the videogame and film-going worlds. As it happens, tomorrow marks the cinematic debut of Augusten Burroughs' bittersweet memoir, "Running with Scissors." Written and directed by Ryan Murphy, the film stars Joseph Cross as Augusten, Alec Baldwin as his alcoholic father and a cast of luminaries including Joseph Fiennes, Annette Bening, Gwyneth Paltrow, Evan Rachel Wood and Brian Cox.

The difficulty springs from confusion in the minds of videogame fans that avidly follow both the decade-old POSTAL game series (POSTAL III was just announced for the Xbox 360 and PC) and the adventures of the series' creators, Tucson's Running With Scissors (RWS) and its quixotic CEO, Vince Desi. Fortunately, Vince, who bears a striking resemblance to a young Victor Mature, was able to set the issue to rest. "While we're honored to have both a best-selling memoir and a film named after our company, we would like to state unequivocally that the film's characters are not intended as a Roman a clef for the RWS staff. Alec Baldwin is not playing Vince Desi."

""And no damn way Gwyneth Paltrow is playing me," protested RWS Marketing Moyel, Mike "J" Jaret.

Adding to the controversy and confusion the movie POSTAL based on our game is currently being filmed in Vancouver B.C. by the uncompromising producer/director Uwe Boll.

"As I understand it," Desi elucidated, "their movie is about people dealing with issues. Well, let's get one thing straight - at Running With Scissors the one thing we never do is deal with issues. We look at it as: 'An issue denied is an issue defied.' Acting in defiance and living in denial, we will be publishing Running With Scissors' greatest hits collection "The Postal Fudge Pack" next month," Desi added fistfully.

It has also been determined that the film "Running with Scissors" has no relationship whatsoever with the short-lived TV comedy series, the now-defunct Chicago-based comedy troupe or the South African all-girl punk band - all of the same name.

"Desi also denies claims that this PR is merely a thinly-veiled attempt to attach his company lamprey-like to Tri Star's publicity machine."
