RuneScape breaks through 250k subscriber mark

Browser based MMORPG continues to grow strongly as freeplayers become subscribers in ever growing numbers

21st February, Cambridge, UK. Jagex the developer and operator of the 3D Java online adventure game RuneScape today announces it has 254,000 subscribers to its members version. The free game now has over 2.4 million active players.

We are tremendously excited about breaking through this important milestone, says Managin Director, Constant Tedder. RuneScape is continuing to attract new players in large numbers. As the free game is unlimited a lot of people hear about it from a friend. When they come and play they quickly see the benefits of becoming a member and so we are seeing more and more people subscribing earlier.

Jagex continues to invest in resources to support the game's growth - recently announcing new game world servers in St Louis USA. The game itself is continuously being developed with new content releases every week meaning there is always something new to do.

RuneScape is a browser based adventure game that can be played for free unlimited at www.runescape.com. Players can subscribe to the members version at any point for $5/month to gain access to a whole host of benefits including a map that is three times as big, over twice as many quests, whole new skills and priority customer support.
