Rollercoaster Extreme

iPad version of Barclaycard's game now available, once again for free.

Hamburg, Germany, 02 September 2010 – Even bigger, even sharper, and with multi-player action: following the iPhone TM version, the free iPad TM version of Barclaycard’s Rollercoaster Extreme is now available for download on the App Store. The game developed by Fishlabs in co-operation with Dare, builds on the popular Barclaycard Roller Coaster campaign, and sends players on a high-speed ride through the concrete canyons of the Big Apple.

The iPhone version of the successor to Barclaycard’s App Store hit Waterslide Extreme, where players race at high speeds on curving courses through the Upper West Side, Downtown, Central Park, and Chinatown, is already very popular, with around eight million downloads. During the ride against the clock, objects placed at the edge of the course must be gathered with a wave of the arm. But players don’t always benefit from items along the track. Bridges or gigantic wrecking balls, which whiz just over the hopefully ducked heads of the coaster passengers, also have to be passed without mishap.

The iPad TM version has not just been graphically pepped up for the tablet device. The multi-player functionality via Bluetooth lets you play against others for the win. The winner is the first one to roar across the finish line. In the multi-player Ghost Racing mode, those who most skilfully use the boost and finish with the highest time bonus can even set a new world record. In the single player mode, racing against your ghost is a great incentive for improving your own score. The new multi-player features in the iPad TM version are also now available for the iPhone TM version as a free update.

‘Barclaycard’s Rollercoaster Extreme already has eight million downloads on the iPhone TM and iPod TM touch after just eight weeks and, thanks to the revised graphics, the new multi-player mode, and the on-line challenges, it is sure to be a hit on the iPad TM , too,’ says Michael Schade, CEO of FISHLABS Entertainment.

Hannah Deans, Senior Digital and New Media Manager, Barclaycard said: ‘We are really excited to be able to offer iPad owners the chance to play the game. The new multi-player blue tooth and ghost player functionality is also a really interesting addition to the game and something we hope all of the millions of game players across the globe will use. It’s another way Barclaycard are engaging with consumers on a global level – with global leader boards enabling people to play against one another no matter where they are in the world.’
