Remedy holds steady, posting solid growth across the board

Finnish developer moves forward on live-service multiplayer game plans

Developed for less than €30 million, psychedelic shooter Control drove sizeable profit and revenue increases for Remedy Entertainment in 2019.

With the release of Control to critical acclaim and multiple award nominations, the Finnish developer saw revenue increase by 57% over 2018 to €31.6 million.

Profits were also up considerably, as the developer posted earnings before tax and interest of €6.53 million -- this marks a 972% increase over the year prior.

Although Control didn't achieve chart-topping sales, Remedy said post-launch sales have "settled on a good level" while holding its retail value; this will be complemented by two paid expansions releasing later this year.

Remedy has also ramped up its headcount as it enters pre-productions for Vanguard and another unannounced project, while finalising development on single-player content for Smilegate's online shooter CrossFire.

While Remedy is best-known for its narrative focused single-player games, the studio revealed Vanguard will be its first attempt at a multiplayer live-service game.

No information has been revealed on the unannounced project.
