Relic names Heidi Eaves COO

Former EA Canada senior development director returns to games industry with new role at Sega's real-time-strategy studio

Relic Entertainment has a new executive, as the Vancouver studio today announced Heidi Eaves has come on board as its chief operating officer.

Eaves has a lengthy history with the Vancouver game development scene, having worked at Radical Entertainment for a stretch in the mid-'90s and following that with an 11-year run at Electronic Arts Canada where she served as senior development director and helped ship games like SSX 3, NHL Rock the Rink, and FIFA Street.

In recent years she has been a principal at Project House Workplace Solutions, a consulting company offering help for companies in need of a variety of HR services, from management training to assessing lighting, acoustics, and air quality needs. The company has counted Relic and the recently shuttered Capcom Vancouver among its clients.

"Finding the right appointment for the COO position was critical for us in continuing on our journey to becoming a destination studio both by releasing great games and nurturing incredible talent," said Relic studio director Justin Dowdeswell. "We needed someone who could impact the way we make games and the way we run the studio and Heidi, who has been at the studio working with the Talent Team for a few months, has already had a huge impact on the studio and our teams. She is exactly the right person to help us continue moving forward."

In her new role, Eaves will handle staff growth/retention efforts and lead the project review process, among other duties.
