Video game publisher RedOctane has announced the appointment of Chris Deering to the company's board as one of its non-executive directors.

Mr. Deering joins RedOctane as the company rolls out its first European release.

A true entertainment industry statesman, Mr. Deering directed the European introduction of Sony PlayStation® and PlayStation® 2 as CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe from 1995 through 2005. In 2004, Mr. Deering was additionally named president of Sony Europe.

"The industry knows that Chris has a special passion for music, which will prove invaluable as we continue our rapid growth in musical instrument-based products."

Chris Deering added: "RedOctane has talented technical visionaries who have already proven in North America with Guitar Hero that they can fashion everyday music lovers into Great Musicians. I look forward to helping RedOctane advance this very promising frontier of interactive high-tech entertainment."
