Record numbers attend Eurogamer Expo

Show attracts 34,500 visitors over four days at Earls Court

The Eurogamer Expo, which took place last week between 22 and 25 September, attracted a record number of visitors, with 34,500 attendees enjoying the event, including 2,000 press and industry figures.

Next year's event has already been confirmed as running from 27-30 September at Earls Court, London.

"This year's Eurogamer Expo was a massive success," said Eurogamer co-founder and MD Rupert Loman.

"The response we've had from the gaming community and the games industry has been incredibly positive. The event has grown very quickly but the great thing is that the show has such a brilliant and welcoming atmosphere. We're looking forward to sharing more details on the 2012 show soon."

Gamers from across the country were attracted to the event by the promise of the UK's first public hands-on showing of Skyrim, Counterstrike: Global Offensive and PlayStation Vita, as well as the official launch of OnLive in the UK, which saw thousands of OnLive microconsoles distributed to visitors for free.

Also at the show were developer sessions from the likes of id Software, Naughty Dog and Dice, as well as panels, recruiters and BAFTA sessions in the TIGA and UKIE sponsored GamesIndustry.biz Career Fair.

Surprises were also on hand from BioWare heads Dr Ray Muzyka and Dr Greg Zeschuk, who announced the launch date of forthcoming MMO Star Wars the Old Republic, allegedly the most expensive video game ever made, live on-stage in their developer session.

Eurogamer editorial staff named NCsoft's Guild Wars 2 as their game of the show.

GamesIndustry.biz is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Eurogamer Network.
