MELBOURNE, Australia, June 23, 2010 – Acclaimed game development studio Firemint today announced that an update for its iPhone app Real Racing is now available on the App Store. The update is designed to take advantage of the new features of iPhone 4 and iOS 4, and is available free of charge to owners of Real Racing.
Real Racing has been enhanced with stunning new graphics now possible on a handheld device thanks to the iPhone 4 Retina display. The groundbreaking cockpit view pioneered on iPhone by Real Racing has been updated to be even more realistic with additional detail. Trackside environments come to life as never before with more richly detailed graphics. Real Racing was already a high performance app, but now cranks up another gear thanks to the iPhone 4 A4 processor and additional optimizations possible under iOS4, for a silky smooth framerate. Owners of iPhone 3GS and third generation iPod touch who upgrade to iOS4 will also enjoy smoother graphics thanks to the new anti-aliasing feature.
Real Racing brings players all the excitement, competition and glory that only true championship racing can provide. It has an impressive lineup of content and features, with a six car grid and 12 unique tracks set in city, forest and desert environments, four vehicle classes (hatch, sedan, muscle and exotic) and a variety of game modes including massive single player career mode and 6-player WiFi multiplayer races.
Real Racing is one of the most acclaimed racing games on any handheld platform and was recently honored with an Apple Design Award for setting the standard for quality and console-like performance and capabilities on iPhone. Other honors include the Independent Games Festival Mobile award for Technical Achievement; International Mobile Gaming Award for Excellence in Connectivity; Slide to Play Game of the Year; IGN iPhone Racing Game of the Year; and Best App Ever Awards (voted by the public) for Best Racing Game, Best Simulation Game and Best Game Graphics.
The Real Racing App is available for $4.99 US from the App Store on iPhone or iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.
