Ratchet: Deadlocked - Let the Games Begin…

Squad-based and fully co-operative gameplay first! Amazing arsenal of fully customisable weapons. Dramatic new look for Ratchet!

E3, LOS ANGELES, 17 May 2005: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today (17/05/05) announces the release of Ratchet: DeadlockedTM in November 05. Developed by the Insomniac Games team behind the critically acclaimed and multi-million selling Ratchet & ClankTM series, Ratchet: Deadlocked is a dramatic new chapter in this hugely successful gaming franchise.

Selling more than seven-million world wide, the Ratchet & ClankTM franchise continues to go from strength to strength. Insomniac has stayed true to their heritage of stunning visuals, strong stories and sharp, entertaining characters whilst taking Ratchet on a new, dramatic and sophisticated adventure.

With fresh art direction and enhanced graphics, Ratchet: Deadlocked introduces a powerful and entertaining feel and story to the Ratchet universe. Having been abducted by the deranged media mogul Gleeman Vox, Ratchet finds himself a contestant on 'DreadZone', the inter-galactic underground reality show. Until Ratchet can work out a way to escape, he is forced to fight in an array of battles and elaborate games of death. With all eyes on him, Ratchet becomes an unlikely TV superstar as the universe tunes in to watch him fight. Ratchet needs all the weapons he can get to keep the audience happy and stay alive as the action takes place in a series of spectacular inter-planetary arenas.

A new look Ratchet and a great new story come complete with new game options, non-linear levels delivering real freedom around the game, more playable vehicles, more things to blow up and many more customisable weapons. And, for the first time in the series Ratchet: Deadlocked features fully co-operative gameplay allowing a second player to seamlessly join in the arena-sport action at any time, in addition to a massive variety of multiplayer modes.

Helping Ratchet through the competitions and tasks and bringing their own personalities into the gaming strategy are a team of customisable allied 'bots.' Ratchet: Deadlocked is the first game of its genre featuring squad based game play as Ratchet relies on his bot team to attack, defend and assist him in strategic combat.

This engaging new chapter for Ratchet promises to deliver a galaxy of fun and laughs in a bold, edgy adventure. Let the games begin with Ratchet: Deadlocked coming soon...
