Rainbow Web Anniversary: Two factors of success - heredity and change

Sugar Games also announces a partnership with MumboJumbo to introduce Rainbow Web to the retail channel.

For immediate release

November 3, 2006

Around the world, the Sugar Games' community is uniting in celebrating the anniversary of Rainbow Web. Unveiled in October 2005, Rainbow Web sold over 55,000 copies. It exceeded the average number of sales for a casual game which according to Casual Games Association usually varies from 5,000 to 20,000 copies. The game received numerous user and industry accolades and awards from around the globe. Industry recognition of Sugar Game's Rainbow Web provides the company with significant momentum leading into 2007 and underscores Sugar Games' ongoing focus on innovation, software excellence and partner value.

"On this anniversary of Rainbow Web, it's very gratifying to see the game community recognizing our brainchild," says Michael Tretyakov, CEO of Sugar Games. "Our success with Rainbow Web is based on the combination of two main factors of evolution: heredity and change. On the one hand, Rainbow Web is based on the popular and widely-known genre of 3-match games, which embraces such hits as Bejeweled and Jewel Quest. On the other hand, Rainbow Web adds its own innovations to the genre that it hasn't seen before - this is a playing field designed as a spider's web, not a boring rectangular field. Besides, players are challenged to restore a word phrase to complete a level. These novelties make Rainbow Web appealing to players who always look for something new and fresh, but don't want to give up the good old thing."

Throughout 2006, Sugar Games garnered significant industry support through its partnerships in US, Europe, Asia, and South America. Partners include (among others): RealArcade, Yahoo! Games, MSN Zone, Oberon Media, Big Fish Games, Zylom, Boonty, BlueFish Media, NextepMedia, and Atrativa.

Sugar Games has also recently announced a partnership with MumboJumbo to introduce Rainbow Web to the retail channel. MumboJumbo is the preferred publisher of premium casual games for the retail channel maintaining strong relationships with leading retailers including Best Buy, CompUSA, GameStop, OfficeMax, Sam's Club, Target, and Wal-Mart. Rainbow Web is scheduled to release in retail by the end of the year and will be available in both PC and Mac formats.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with the world's top companies that provide us with a phenomenal opportunity to get Rainbow Web in the hands of thousands of casual game lovers around the world," continues Mr. Tretyakov. Without our partners, our success with Rainbow Web would be impossible. The companies continue to partner with Sugar Games because we work within their parameters and don't force them to fit within ours. Today, when all Sugar Games' community is celebrating the anniversary of Rainbow Web, I'd like to thank our partners for their contribution to our success. But Sugar Games is not stopping here. We are looking ahead toward an even more inspiring future. We hope more partners and players will join us in 2007."
