Pyongyang Express

Food truck relaunched to tie in with Homefront.

Agoura Hills, Calif. – Feb. 16, 2011 – Back by popular demand, THQ, a leading video game developer and publisher, is re-launching its famous North Korean-inspired food truck, Pyongyang Express. Building on last year’s successful Los Angeles run, THQ has expanded the franchise and is planning to operate trucks throughout Los Angeles and San Francisco from Feb. 22 to March 21. Pyongyang Express hits the streets in support of THQ’s upcoming first-person shooter (FPS) game, Homefront TM, scheduled for release on March 15.

Homefront is set in a near future America in 2027, after the United States suffers a full economic collapse and a now-nuclear armed Korean People's Army invades the United States. The game follows members of the American Civilian Resistance as they battle to free the nation from an oppressive occupation.

Remaining faithful to the franchise’s motto, “Subsidized Good Food for a Better America,” the Los Angeles Pyongyang Express truck will serve hungry Angelenos fresh tacos, burritos and rice bowls, all at bargain subsidized prices. To further celebrate the expansion, the San Francisco truck will provide free tacos to lucky citizens on a daily basis (limited daily supplies). And on select days, trucks in both cities will feature Xbox 360consoles, enabling players to personally experience Homefront, in addition to trying the delicious food.

“THQ is all about fun-filled entertainment and these trucks are the perfect embodiment of that spirit,” said Tyrone Miller, director public relations, THQ. “Angelenos couldn’t get enough of the Pyongyang Express last year and we know they’ll be excited to see it return, while people in San Francisco have a real treat awaiting them. This is a fantastic franchise and will give people an excellent taste, both literally and figuratively, of what Homefront is about.”

In addition to touring the cities, Pyongyang Express is scheduled to be present at the Moscone Center in San Francisco during the Game Developers Conference from Feb. 28 to March 4, as well as for the grand opening of Truckit Fest at Union Station in Los Angeles on March 6.
