Pulse Sound System

Engine Software's DS middleware now an official Nintendo 3rd Party Tool.

Doetinchem, August 15th 2008 – Engine Software is proud to announce that Nintendo has accepted the Pulse Sound System (PSS) into the official 3rd Party Tools program for Nintendo DS™. PSS, formerly known as the Music & Sound Replayer, is the new name for the latest incarnation of Engine Software’s audio middleware.

Ruud van de Moosdijk, VP of Development at Engine Software explains: “ Since the first release of our middleware in 2001, it has been highly successful, and is widely used amongst DS developers and freelance musicians. By becoming part of the official 3rd Party Tools program, and the big technical update we just finished, including ‘Speex’ speech compression and Positional Sound support, we deemed the time right to give the library a rebirth as PSS .“

Engine Software is currently wrapping up the full package for PSS 1.0, which includes a new DS demo image that shows the variety of features, and the power of the Pulse Sound System on the Nintendo DS™ itself. Existing licensees will receive PSS 1.0 as part of the no-fee guarantee update service, just like any other update. Interested parties are invited to drop by at Engine Software’s booth (G13, Hall2) at the Game Convention in Leipzig, and have a look at the demo.

Should you want to meet with the representatives of Engine Software at the GC in Leipzig August 20-23, we advise you to set up an appointment prior to the show. To do so, please send an E-mail to the address provided at the end of this press release, and please state your area of business. We hope to meet you there!
