PSP Remote Play goes live

The PSP's Remote Play function, allowing users to stream content from the PlayStation 3 to the handheld, has now gone live thanks to the latest firmware update.

Using a wireless connection, PSP owners are able to access their home console's hard-drive or memory cards to stream music, photos and videos to the handheld. Media can also be saved onto the PSPs Memory Stick.

More integrated functions are expected from the Remote Play feature in the future. Sony originally planned to let developers use the PSP in PlayStation 3 games as an additional peripheral, with Formula One Championship Edition being shown at E3 using the PSP as a rear-view mirror, although the function was dropped before release.
