Production Begins On Ice Planet Mobile Game

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (March 8, 2007):

TORONTO -- SpaceWorks Entertainment Inc. and Silverbirch Studios here are pleased to announce that production has begun on the mobile game of Ice Planet, part of a $50-million+ gaming and television entertainment franchise. The mobile game, funded in part by a grant from the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, will be a multi-level RPG game incorporating the characters and settings from the HD television series Ice Planet. Both game and TV series will feature Michael Ironside.

Gamers will be pleased to know that by July all reference builds will be complete and the final version will be mastered and released in time for the television series' broadcast debut this Fall.

Preliminary screen size resolutions planned include the following:

Sony Ericsson S710 320 x 240

Motorola V3 176 x 204

Nokia 3220 128 x 128

"We're very excited to work on this project," said Silverbirch Studios Vice President Jason Azevedo. "It's an honour to be part of a sci-fi franchise that promises to be as original and ground-breaking as Ice Planet does. Creatively, it's the perfect canvas for a successful mobile game."

Integrating storylines from the television series into the mobile game play is a new concept for the two media producing their respective productions in tandem and launching simultaneously.

"We wanted to bring the gaming community back to television," said SpaceWorks CEO Philip Jackson. "A growing demographic has been moving away from television and our strategy in this and all our future productions, is to provide entertainment that appeals to them."

A console game is also about to begin production with a street date that will coincide with the television series' season finale in 2008.
