Pro Overwatch player dropped for racial slurs

Toronto Esports cuts ties with Matt "Dellor" Vaughn for prolonged outburst during Twitch stream; Vaughn says he's quitting competitive gaming

Toronto Esports announced yesterday that it released pro Overwatch player Matt "Dellor" Vaughn after he grew frustrated during a recent Twitch stream of the game and repeatedly used a racial slur, as reported by PVP Live.

In a statement confirming the dismissal, team president Ryan Pallett said, "Toronto Esports is an organization built on inclusivity, and we have always had a zero-tolerance policy for any forms of discrimination. Immediately upon learning of the incident, the player was interviewed, admitted to the offence, and was notified that his contract with the organization was being terminated."

Vaughn released his own statement apologizing for tarnishing Toronto Esports' reputation and saying he isn't racist but does have anger problems. He later added that he is "quitting eSports with no intention of returning," is treating this as a wake-up call and will seek help.
