Mobile graphics chip maker's "ecosystem" now boasts 5,000 members.

Austin, USA - September 15, 2008 - Imagination Technologies, the leader in mobile and embedded graphics technologies, reports Imagination’s POWERVR Insider ecosystem ( www.powervrinsider.com), which brings together developers, chip companies and handset manufacturers, has over 5,000 members to date and is growing at around 400 members per month. POWERVR graphics acceleration technology has now been shipped in over 100 million consumer products.
Says Tony King-Smith, VP marketing, Imagination Technologies: “There are now more phones with POWERVR 3D in user’s hands than there are current generation games consoles and the leading POWERVR enabled titles are selling over 100,000 units a week. This makes mobile 3D applications an attractive target for developers and our POWERVR Insider ecosystem now has over 5,000 members as a result.”
The POWERVR Insider SDK continues to remain developers’ preferred development environment for the creation of OpenGL ES 2.0 as well as OpenGL ES 1.1 and OpenVG applications. This includes a complete PC-based emulation environment, combined with Imagination’s unrivalled technical support, making POWERVR graphics the technology of choice.
The latest version of the SDK is being launched at Austin GDC from 15-17 September 2008. Developers will be able to see Imagination’s SDK and tools demonstrated on Stand 115.
New features include: completely reworked remote performance profiler; fully annotated GLSL compiler with HW cycles per instruction; shader composer support for DirectX® 10; and PVRTexTool support for all DirectX 10, OpenVG and NGage's NGT texture formats.
