Licensed from Mindscape, this realistic simulation game is pocket money friendly, at less than ten pounds. The game includes a free child's ticket to London Zoo*, which is worth more than the price of the product itself! With value for money like this, who can refuse? For each copy of the game sold, a donation to The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is made, helping to maintain the care and wellbeing of the animals.
Zoo Vet was developed by Legacy Interactive, who is also responsible for the ER and Law and Order games.
Why isn't the lion eating? What do you do with a newborn flamingo? What does the x-ray of the panda's belly show? Players can answer all of these questions and plenty more when they become a vet at their own zoo. Zoo Vet is aimed at simulation game fans and animal lovers, aged 8 and above.
Players travel around the zoo, visiting animals that need attention. They perform a series of examinations, from asking questions of the zookeepers, to performing vital medical tests on the animals, dependent on their ailment.
Once a full examination has been done, the player decides on what they think is wrong with the animal, and applies the relevant treatment, varying from ointments and flea powder, to medication mixed in with their feed.
After each treatment the user is scored on how accurate their diagnosis and treatment was, and very high scorers have a trophy to add to their cabinet, and to print off.
This fun and educational game will keep the kids occupied for hours on end. For newcomers or younger users, the easy level gives guidance whilst examining the animals, and gives hints on how you should treat them. There are two further difficulty levels for older kids, which require more use of
brain-power and common sense, ideal for those with a thirst for knowledge.
All scenarios have been created by real veterinarians - ensuring all the information is realistic and accurate.
The educational aspect of this game is fantastic. As well as treating animals there is a glossary of relevant words, and a section with more detailed information about the species in the game. Kids can also test their knowledge in the trivia game - an excellent way of helping them remember what they've learnt.
Zoo Vet is easy to use and the screens are customisable, allowing children to add a more personal touch to their gaming. The characters are friendly and informative, and the graphics are true to life.
