Pocket God

Next update heralds arrival of fire.

SAN FRANCISCO - June 22, 2009

Bolt Creative today announced that in the next update to their popular iPhone game Pocket God, the island inhabitants will be granted the greatest invention in human history: fire! But with all the benefits that come with this newfangled technology – cooking delicious fish, mainly – there are also new hardships to overcome.

Chief among these new fiery obstacles is the all-too-common issue of the ‘wrathful god.’ If Pocket Gods out there so choose, they are free to roast their devoted island dwellers over an open fire. There’s also the possibility that a Pygmy might suffer from overeating: if one eats too quickly, he or she might just choke – decidedly a bad thing.

“Just as it was a big step for humankind, fire is a big step for the Pygmies of Pocket God, and we wanted the unlockable to be a little more complicated to properly reflect the significance of this development,” said Dave Castelnuovo of Bolt Creative. “So there are a few steps Pocket Gods and their island-bound charges will have to take before unleashing the power of combustion – and we can’t wait to see what they burn down with it!”
