PlayStation Portable updated to v2.7 in Europe, North America

The latest operating system upgrade for the PlayStation Portable, version 2.70, has been rolled out in North America and Europe just hours after it launched in Japan, and is now available for download from Sony's online services.

The update adds functionality including a Macromedia Flash player and support for the AAC audio format used by Apple's popular iTunes application to the previous functionality of the PlayStation Portable.

Users can connect directly to Sony's online update service with their PSP consoles to download this latest firmware, or can download it from their local Sony websites to their PCs, and transfer it to the console on memory sticks or over USB.

For more details about this update, see Monday's article on the Japanese patch.
